Code of Conduct & Policies
Juniors (aged 8yrs – 18yrs)
We welcome athletes of all abilities and support them to be the best that they can be. The benefits go far beyond fitness: junior athletes learn many skills that will help them throughout life, such as team work, resilience, self-belief and confidence, and they will have a lot of fun along the way.
Currently we have over 40 Juniors with the club, with sessions being lead by qualified coaches, specialising in junior coaching and athletic development, with the help from club members who have undertaken the Leadership in Running Fitness award, and without saying are all DBS checked.

Help us - Parents - we need you. We want to deliver opportunities for all our junior athletes to better themselves both personally and physically. Please engage with us to see how you can help out.

Seniors (aged 18yrs+)
A truly welcoming and inclusive running club, with a pursuit to bringing individuals from all walks of life together whilst supporting and encouraging growth and development in a positive direction. Our club provides the correct environment to ensure members can run, volunteer, socialise and contribute to local events and organisations.
With over 70+ current members, we have a great range of abilities, runners who are just starting out with walk/run, those who are running a sub 20min 5k, through to both marathon and ultra runners. TAC pride ourselves on helping and encouraging our members to achieve their running goals and sharing in their sense of achievement.
Seniors meet on a Monday and Wednesday evening from 6.15pm, with a briefing before commencing at 6.30pm, with sessions varying in locations. These can be found on the booking APP.
Below is list of planned sessions with meeting locations and formats, so if you’re unable to attend the session physically, you can have “homework” to do.
UPDATE MONTHLY WITH TRAINING SCHEDULE
In addition to the scheduled sessions, club members regularly meet for group social runs, just pop a post on the Facebook Page and you’ll soon be added to a group or two!
Free Trial – Try before you buy! The club offers 4 free training sessions to give you the opportunity to see if it’s something you’d like to do
What to bring & Wear – clothes that are comfortable for running in and weather appropriate. A drink is needed all year round; we sweat even when it’s -10! Footwear appropriate for grass and hard surface, no need to buy specialist running shoes. End of September is also the time of year where a headlight/chest light and Hi-Viz will be required for safety.
Races – There is no requirement for any member of the club to take part in a race, however we will fully support and encourage those that do.
There are a large number of races held throughout the year and both locally, nationally and worldwide that members take part in, with an added bonus when groups form and it becomes a social event too.
The club hosts the Breckland 10K in May, and we ask members (if available) to help on the day in some capacity, and in return we have club run the following week to give you the chance to run your own 10k. This is also
The club have a member only 5k time trial series throughout the summer, giving you the chance to set a time each month to try and improve on.
If you have any questions or queries, or would like to simply have a chat, please
(link to email) Get in touch with us to discuss everything further, or by all means come to one of the training sessions to meet with our coaches.
Club Standards
The club has a comprehensive list of Road Running Club Standards, the aim of which is to serve as an incentive for runners to keep improving or to have a target for upcoming races. The standards cover 7 key racing distances including:
5km
5miles
10km
10miles
Half Marathon
20miles
Marathon
The standards break these distances down into 7 qualifying times; Diamond, Emerald, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Copper. The qualifying times can be found here (link to spreadsheet) and are available from club officials.
Claims are not automatic – runners will be asked at the end of the calendar year to email in to the coordinator so they can be cross checked and announced at the Club Awards Evening. Runners may only claim for races they ran during their membership of the club. It is not necessary to have registered for the race as Thetford Athletics or run the race in club colours. Races must be certified for competition, measured and results publicly available. Thetford parkrun is also accepted for standards claims, but no other parkrun will be accepted.
The PB awards are a series of awards, nine levels of progression per age group, which celebrate athletes reaching new ‘personal bests’ in all track and field events. The Awards have been developed to provide progressive steps to help athletes move through the sport from club development level through to national level and beyond.
Through the expanded programme, we can celebrate and recognise everyone’s personal achievements. A new series of Para Awards will be launched later in 2023, providing reward and recognition and a fully inclusive awards programme offer - the first of its kind for athletics in the UK.
The PB Awards are aimed at athletes from under 13 through to senior age groups.
There are different award tables for every athletics event including combined events. They cover for each age group, for both male and female athletes aimed at the whole athletics community.
The Awards level in each event are linked throughout the age groups, providing a complete awards pathway for every athlete.
This allows athletes not only to see what it takes to reach the top level in their age group, but also what is required to reach the top senior level in the awards.
At the end of the year, Junior Coaches will be asked who has achieved a PB Award throughout the year, and these will be announced at the Club Awards Evening.

The Committee
The club is run by a committee of volunteers elected on an annual basis that meets at least once every two months. Any member can ask to view the minutes of these meetings. Email
An annual general meeting is held once per year – usually late May after the renewal of membership in April. Details will be sent by email to all members. We encourage active participation of the membership in this meeting where the previous year is reviewed, ideas are gathered for the forthcoming year and a new committee is elected.
The club is committed to meeting England Athletics best practices for the governance of the club, known as club standards. Details of this can viewed here – EA Club Standards. We also promote a Safe Running Guide (https://runtogether.co.uk/support/tips-and-advice/personal-safety-advice/)
